Its full name is Cryptocoryne crispatula var balansae. Unlike Crypt Spiralis, \u003cem\u003eCrypt Balansae\u003c\/em\u003e is a little more sensitive. Like most Crypts, it might melt back in your tank when you first recieve it.(It hasn't melted in my 220 yet but that doesn't mean it can't happen) Make sure you plant your C. Balansae in a good substrate with plenty of nutrients available.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt has been my experience that \u003cem\u003eCrypt Balansae\u003c\/em\u003e is a heavy root feeder, so make sure you at least have some root tabs. It's ruffled, taller leaves give it a nice contrast in your planted aquarium My buddy Bryan demanded that I start stocking this plant, I told him I would under the condition that he wrote the write up, but I had to get it up here... It can be a center piece plant in a small aquarium or as a filler plant for larger tanks. From beginner to expert, crypt balansae is an outstanding addition to your aquarium. If you are searching for a way to have the look of a ruffle onion but don’t have the room in a small tank, Crypt. Balansae is the way to go. \u003cem\u003eCrypt Balansae’s\u003c\/em\u003e leaves are narrow. In my tank I have never had a leaf wider than ¾ of an inch. The leaves reach up to 8 or 9 inches and have a wrinkled appearance that add awesome contrast to smoother plants in the tank.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn a dirted tank the \u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003eCryptocoryne balansae\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e will take off within a couple months. Generally a slower grower than the more common bronze or green crypts, this plant is worth having in your tank. Whether in gravel, dirted, or just sand, Cryptocoryne balansae will grow. The better the substrate though, the faster the growth. All around this is a killer plant for every level of aquatic enthusiasts. Cryptocoryne balansae in time can spread and produce an amazing mat of dense vegetation. Generally used in the middleground of a tank it adds depth and a splash of something different to every tank. CRYPTS MELT. The leaves on the Crypt Wendtii might fall off not long after you plant them. THIS IS COMPLETELY NORMAL WITH CRYPTOCORYNE. It just happens.\u003c\/span\u003e \u003cspan style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000000;\"\u003eWhat you are going to want to look for is a tiny bit of new growth coming back up out of the center of the plants after a few days. These are the leaves you are looking for. They are the leaves that are more prepared for your tank. They are the leaves that are going to last longer.\u003c\/span\u003e \u003cspan style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000000;\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e \u003cspan style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000000;\"\u003eCrypts are considered a low light plant and like a little shade. These \u003cstrong\u003eC. Wendtii\u003c\/strong\u003e will grow shorter and more compact under high light. Under less light they will grow a little longer and taller.\u003c\/span\u003e \u003cspan style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #000000;\"\u003eI wouldn't add these plants to a tank that isn't already established with plants. I dirted or well fertilized tank would be ideal. If you want some lush green. With a beautiful dark lime green color and thick sword like leaves, Anubias Congensis is an outstanding plant for the mid or back ground of your tank. This may very well be the plant you’ve been lacking for the perfect tank. Standing taller than \u003ca style=\"font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'San Francisco', 'Segoe UI', Roboto, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif; font-size: 1.4em;\" href=\"https:\/\/dustinsfishtanks.mom\/products\/anubias-minima\" title=\"Anubias Minima\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"\u003eAnubias Minima\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e, Congensis can reach heights of twelve to fourteen inches in a well lit tank. If your tank is not lit to well, that’s not a problem; Congensis will keep shorter leaves and grow slower in a dimmer tank. That being said beginners to experts can find success with this killer Anubias species. Each leaf that is\u003cspan style=\"color: black;\"\u003e produced\u003c\/span\u003e points to the top of the tank and stays vertical at all times. Other Anubias species with blade-like leaves, such as Minima or Frazeri, usually keep the flat surface towards the light, Congensis will not. If you want a plant to fill in a dark spot in the tank or if you’re looking for a splash of brighter green in the tank, Congensis will make a great addition. Like other variants, \u003cstrong\u003eCongensis\u003c\/strong\u003e can handle an array of water parameters; from slightly brackish with a high ph to softer water with ph of 7.0. Personally I have found that the roots of Congenis are thicker than most other Anubias species I have kept, which makes it more difficult to move them around the tank than a smaller plant like Nana. Once planted though, you will not be disappointed. No matter the lighting, substrate, or your level of knowledge in the aquarium hobby, \u003cem\u003eAnubias Congensis\u003c\/em\u003e is an easy to keep, hardy plant. I can't always get these different species of Anubias, if you are thinking about getting some kind of different Anubias, DO IT, cause I can't promise when I'll have them in stock again. \u003cspan style=\"color: red;\"\u003eRemember when planting Anubias to only plant the roots! BABY TEARS IS NOT A BEGINNER PLANT. Baby tears is one of the plants that you get after you have had success with a dirted tank. NOT RIGHT AWAY. With that warning given, if you are looking for a killer foreground plant for your rocking dirted tank, give Baby Tears a shot. It takes it a second to get going but once it hits a dirt substrate it will start to rock.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI have found that it enjoys a slightly finer grade of substrate. This is what I did when I first this plant for my 220. I took a small portion of two leaves and tied the rhizome several times over and over again to a rock. I don't recall how long it actually took the Windelov Java Fern to really take off, but I can tell you that once it got adjusted and a good grasp on the rock--- It went nuts. I first fell in love with Jungle Val when I put it in my high tech tank. Jungle val also does great in a beginners tank without dirt. I have seen it in low light tanks with hardly any sort of nutrients in the substrate. The better the substrate the better the Red Tiger Lotus will grow. Ludwigia Repens is the species I have kept the longest and it has brought me much joy over the year. I have been keeping it about 5 years and don’t ever intend on not having at least some of it around.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis plant has been grown above water! It is usually sunk for about 4 or 5 days before getting to you and usually starts to take on new roots down and up the stem before it melts it's old leaves and grows new ones! This process usually only takes about 2 weeks with these plants so you should see them bounce back twice as hard really quick!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt’s main attraction for me is its flexibility to a variety of water types, substrates and lighting. I have had it under bright lights (250 watts on 125g) \u003cstrong\u003eLudwigia\u003c\/strong\u003e takes a little while to get adjusted to your tank and might even loose all of its leaves, but it will come back. I have seen it come back from only a few leaves to be a thriving plant. The Ludwigia you are getting has been individually planted down into dirt and may or may not have rooted yet, but it is a much healthier plant because of this.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e4-5 Stems or cuttings with roots of Ludiwigia Repens. NOTE: \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eLudwigia\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e is one of the few plants that we hand wrap in paper and ship out. You won't be disappointed.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI've kept it in low light, (one single strip on a 75) and floating on the surface of a 75. It did well everywhere, obviously under better conditions it grew better, but it never really stopped growing regardless. Ludwigia Repens has been my gauge for how much\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/dustinsfishtanks.mom\/products\/iron\" title=\"Iron Aquarium Fertilizers\"\u003e iron to add\u003c\/a\u003e to my tanks. When it is darker and purple underneath the iron is good, lighter, add more iron. It’s easy to cut and propagate. Typically if it is growing long and tall I’ll hack it where it’ll have a long stem to grow down into the substrate. This will make the plant fuller and look better. Although I keep it in my 40 high with only one strip and natural sunlight where it grows straight up and down, no side action… It also is great to break up an aquascape. The contrast of it with a long tall and skinny plant is great. I have kept it with swords, jungle val. Ect. This is a must have plant. It grows wide leaves that attempt to cover the waters surface. My angels loved this and your fish will like it as well. This is also beneficial for newly hatched fry as well as they can hide in the big roots. Water Sprite can also be rooted down just like a normal plant. It doesn't have the hardiest roots so you'll want to get it down in there pretty good.
