We can not recommend or advise purchasing a Madagascar Lace plant without dirt as your lower substrate. This plant needs lots of nutrients readily available at its roots, so extra precautions should be taken to make this happen. Once established in a tank with a great substrate, the Madagascar Lace Plant will thrive. I have had this plant for over 2 years now and it has taken over 1\/2 of my 75 gallon tank. You have to be careful to make sure it doesn't over shadow plants under it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI have kept Crypts and Anubias under it, no problem. A nice fast growing plant once it gets settled. \u003cstrong\u003eAponogeton boivinianus\u003c\/strong\u003e is a large, strong plant which is suitable for large aquariums. A bulb plant from Madagascar. In favorable conditions it can form very large leaves (up to 30\" long and 3\" wide).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe oldest leaves are deep dark-green, while younger leaves are light-green and sometimes brownish until they are fully developed. In the wild \u003cem\u003eAponogeton boivinianus\u003c\/em\u003e is found in fast-flowing water, and it prefers some flow in the aquarium water. It needs a dormant period when the bulb does not produce leaves.
