I'm all about beginners and this is about as beginner of a plant as you can get. Elodea (or Anacharis) is commonly used in ponds as well as aquariums. What I really like about Anacharis Elodea is how you can just break off a piece of it and shove it down in your substrate and grow a whole new plant.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYOU WILL RECEIVE 3-4 SOLID STEMS! The thing that shocks me about Crypt Spiralis is how when we got it in, it didn't melt like most crypts. NOTE: That doesn't mean it won't melt in your tank, but it will grow back. I have been keeping it about 5 years and don’t ever intend on not having at least some of it around.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis plant has been grown above water! It is usually sunk for about 4 or 5 days before getting to you and usually starts to take on new roots down and up the stem before it melts it's old leaves and grows new ones! This process usually only takes about 2 weeks with these plants so you should see them bounce back twice as hard really quick!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt’s main attraction for me is its flexibility to a variety of water types, substrates and lighting. I have had it under bright lights (250 watts on 125g) \u003cstrong\u003eLudwigia\u003c\/strong\u003e takes a little while to get adjusted to your tank and might even loose all of its leaves, but it will come back. I have seen it come back from only a few leaves to be a thriving plant. The Ludwigia you are getting has been individually planted down into dirt and may or may not have rooted yet, but it is a much healthier plant because of this.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e4-5 Stems or cuttings with roots of Ludiwigia Repens. NOTE: \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eLudwigia\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e is one of the few plants that we hand wrap in paper and ship out. It did well everywhere, obviously under better conditions it grew better, but it never really stopped growing regardless. When it is darker and purple underneath the iron is good, lighter, add more iron. It’s easy to cut and propagate. Typically if it is growing long and tall I’ll hack it where it’ll have a long stem to grow down into the substrate. This will make the plant fuller and look better. Although I keep it in my 40 high with only one strip and natural sunlight where it grows straight up and down, no side action… It also is great to break up an aquascape. The contrast of it with a long tall and skinny plant is great. I have kept it with swords, jungle val. Ect. This is a must have plant. We will still need to COVER this layer...more on that in a bit.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOk- So you have to understand that the \"Dirt\" we use has to go through a process.  We have to make it so the dirt does NOT destroy your aquarium.   We do the work for you.   I personally have prepared EVERY Dustin's Dirt Pack.  It's kind of fun too, I get to help get our customers get a better aquarium from the ground up.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYou don't need to source all of the ingredients. You don't need to be standing around  at Home Depot trying to figure out which kind of dirt to buy. You don't need to figure out how to add clay to the mix or how to increase the calcium levels.  You don't need to worry about how to put it all together. NOPE.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe (ok me, Dustin) have done the work for you....most of it.  We have done the BOTTOM Layer of your aquarium substrate. For example. If you select ONE Small \"DDP\" You will need the equivalent size amount of gravel\"\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf you grab ONE LARGE DDP, you will need gravel enough for the same amount as ONE LARGE DDP or more.    \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e If you are doing a 125 Gallon aquarium and you grab 5 Large DDPs. YOU WILL NEED 5 (Or more) bags of gravel of the equivalent size.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGot it?  This is NOT a \"Dump it in and it's ready product.  If you pour a bag of this in your aquarium, make a mess and kill your fish. don't come crying to me. WE WARNED YOU.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe DDPs work best with a bare bottom empty tank it. (I do NOT recommend trying to add dirt to an existing tank with fish already in the tank. Think if you were the fish?). Get a tub, siphon the tank water into a tub and add the fish temporarily into the tub. (They will be fine- how do you think they go to the pet store anyway- worse conditions than this!)\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePlace the DDP to the bottom of the bare aquarium.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e***Cover the dirt with Equal portions or more of gravel*** I recommend an inch or more of gravel on top of the DDP dirt mix. When in doubt add MORE gravel. Note: Don’t cap the dirt with the following- play sand, ECO-complete or anything too fine. 2-6 mm gravel works best.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFill the aquarium just past a slow drip so as not to disturb the DDP layer. If the water is cloudy do a water change later in the day. Don't over think this, but if you live some where with either soft water, or a water softener because you are on a well, you want to make sure you are aware of this. (One pound of crushed coral per 20 gallons of water typically fixes this.)\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis plant and other anubias likes to be cut up or broken apart at the rhizome.  These plants come with nice roots in pots and will enjoy being spread out and tied or glued all over your tank.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOn a scale of 1 to 10. This plant is a 2.
