This picture doesn't do this great plant justice... This is one of our best selling plants for a reason. I rolled the dice with this one and it came up yahtzee! Generally speaking, most hygraphila are super easy plants to keep. One of our best selling plants is \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/dustinsfishtanks.mom\/products\/water-wisteria\" title=\"Water Wisteria\"\u003eHygrophila difformis aka water wisteria. \u003c\/a\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhen I saw the words \"Hygrophila\" I figured it would be an easy one to grow. I was right. The RED on this Hygrophila cordata is a real winner for me. This plant was originally grown above water (Like most aquarium plants) however, we were able to watch it quickly adapt to life entirely under water in just a few days.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis plant has a hardy stem to it and has some really great red colors to it. I would use this plant as a back ground plant as a nice contrast along side some tall and skinny grassy plants.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOn a scale of 1 to 10. You have probably heard of water wisteria.  This plant is it's cousin if you will.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe love this hygro because it brings you that big strong stem plants look that you want as your background.   It might pause for just a second to get rolling in your aquarium but rest assured, as long as you are running even remotely decent water, this plant will THRIVE for you.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYou could pull out each individual stem out of the bunches we sell and it would branch out on its own.  (This is a favorite plant during our $1 per stem sale for this very reason. It enjoys moderate lighting and provides a gorgeous reddish tint to it's beautiful elongated leaves. The red stem helps aid this visual effect. I would say it likes its PH around 6.8 to 7.5.  (We have found it doesn't care for harder water than 7.5....)    Don't over think that- this plant doesn't care!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese plants have beautiful white roots and are completely submerged plants. I would rate it a 3 out of 10 in terms of difficulty as it does prefer a moderate light.   \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe more light you give them, the more RED they will give you.  We have grown them in near full sun to get that red stem really popping off and coming out into the leaves.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eUnder lower light it will be more lighter green.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe have some fun growing this above water as well. (We just threw it in a high light tub with 2 inches of water and it said \"I've got this\" and it grew up tall and it grew up right. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe have ran this plant at like 80+ in the summer.
